Applying to Gracelight’s Residency Program
Thank you for your interest in our residency program. We welcome driven, compassionate, and dedicated individuals who are seeking a robust and supportive training environment. We are committed to fostering the growth of Los Angeles’ future leaders in medicine through clinical excellence, academic curiosity, and a compassionate view toward providing care for all.
Application Process
We participate in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and adhere to the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) guidelines. To be considered for an interview, applicants must submit the following materials through ERAS:
- Completed ERAS application
- Personal statement
- Medical school transcript
- Dean’s letter (MSPE)
- Two to Three letters of recommendation
- USMLE score of 210 or higher, COMLEX score of 420 or higher
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Medical School Graduate within 5 years of applying for residency or sufficient work experience without significant gaps.
Selection Criteria
We review each application holistically, considering their academic performance, clinical experiences, leadership, community service, research, and alignment with our program’s mission. We value people from all backgrounds, and are committed to recruiting residents from a wide range of life experiences.
Interview Process
Selected applicants will be invited to participate in both virtual and in-person interviews. Interviews provide an opportunity to meet our faculty, current residents, and program leadership. You’ll learn about our curriculum, culture, facilities, and the Los Angeles community that we’re proud to serve and provide compassionate and comprehensive care to.
Important Dates
Interview Season
- Annually, November – January
- Monday – Friday, except on holidays
Acceptance and Slot Assignment
- After initial screenings, resident interviews will be offered on a first come, first serve basis. Interviews are structured so resident applicants are able to throughly review program details and ask questions of faculty and residents.
Interview Format
- Resident interviews will be conducted by Gracelight’s Residency Program Director, Faculty and Staff. Interviews will be offered in virtual and in-person formats.
Hospital and Site Tours
- Gracelight offers virtual tours of our residency program, showing daily resident life at both Hollywood Presbyterian, and at Gracelight Community Health facilities.
After the Interviews
- Our Residency Interview Committee will review all applicants throughout the interview season. Applicant rankings will be based upon final scores, with the program participating in the final NRMP Match Week. Gracelight’s Residency Program also participates in the supplemental offer and acceptance program (SOAP), giving the option of unfilled residency positions to eligible unmatched or partially matched applicants during Match Week.
