About Coach Sue

There’s nothing like a pandemic to turn your world upside down. But, if you look, you can generally find a silver lining.

My path to learning Yang Style 24 Tai Chi began during the 2020 pandemic when my workout studio was temporarily forced to close. But the amazing staff seamlessly switched us to online workouts

One option they offered was Tai Chi. It was a great choice for several reasons:

  • We could easily practice on our own between sessions.
  • It didn’t require special equipment.
  • We practiced online weekly as a group, which helped us to stay physically and mentally healthy and less isolated.

I became passionate about Tai Chi for several reasons:

  • It is beautiful, graceful, and the movements are gentle.
  • It does wonders for your physical and emotional well-being at any age
  • Learning the Yang Style 24 is easy, but perfecting the form can take a lifetime of practice. It’s the perfect exercise if you love a challenge
  • At the same time, it’s okay to do it imperfectly. You’ll still reap the benefits. That’s why Tai Chi is for everyone.
  • It’s so much fun to practice in a community of like-minded people.

My passion led me to become certified to teach. And now I love sharing the benefits of Tai Chi with others.

As we reach midlife and beyond, it becomes especially important to stay active and find peace, joy, and social connection. If you want that, then I would be thrilled to have you join me and let’s share in the joyful and beneficial practice of Tai Chi together.

About Coach Rickye

The practice of Tai Chi has always intrigued me. Feedback that I received from family and friends was that it was difficult to grasp because you just follow along without any instruction.  When I became a personal trainer, I wanted to teach Tai Chi to prevent falls for our clients.

I received my Tai Chi certification 5 years ago from Dianne Bailey at Open the Door to Tai Chi.  Her method of teaching explains the technique and principles of each movement.

Tai Chi is the only way that I am able to totally meditate.  Because you are moving your arms across both hemispheres of the brain and coordinate leg work you cannot think of anything else while practicing. It has taught me to slow down.
